CALL TO A SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
MONDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2023
THIRD FLOOR MEETING ROOM, TOWN HALL
The eligible voters of the Town of Durham are hereby warned that a SPECIAL TOWN MEETING will be held in the 3rd Floor Meeting Room, Town Hall, at 8:00 p.m. on October 30, 2023, to consider the following items:
1. To elect 1 member to term expiring 2028 on the Compensation Review/Personnel Policy Board.
2. To fill 1 vacancy for the term expiring 2026 on the Compensation Review/Personnel Policy Board.
3. To approve an additional appropriation of $25,000 ($200,000 was approved by the Town Meeting on 9/12/22 and $100,000 was approved on 5/8/23) from the American Rescue Plan Act Fund to cover electrical repairs needed as a result of saw cutting the cement floor to remove the sanitary line from the holding tank to the farthest fixture and replace with an entirely new drain waste vent system and resulting renovation to upgrade two (2) toilet rooms to meet ADA requirements and to convert (1) bathroom into two (2) bathrooms to accommodate men & women separately at the Durham Volunteer Fire Department building as proposed by the Fire Company Board of Trustees and recommended by the Board of Selectmen at their meeting of October 10, 2023.
4. To approve the appropriation of $100,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act Fund for the construction of a connectivity sidewalk from the new Community Center and Allyn Brook Park, as recommended by the Board of Selectmen at their meeting of October 10, 2023.
The town meeting is accessible to the handicapped. Any disabled persons requiring special assistance or non-English speakers should contact George M. Eames, IV, First Selectman, at 860-349-3625 at least five (5) dates prior to the meeting.
