Does my dog need to be licensed?
All dogs need to be licensed. Yearly renewals are due June 1st of every year. Please bring your current rabies vaccination certificate and a spay/neuter certificate to the Town Clerk's Office. There is a $1.00 per month, per dog, late fee for all dogs registered after June 30. Visit the Resources tab for more information and fees.
What are the rules for barking dogs?
A barking dog is a public nuisance complaint, 24 hours a day.

There is no leash law in Durham, however, dogs must be under the owner's control at all times and cannot be allowed to roam freely at any time.
