🎃 Trunk or Treat Event: Join us for a fun-filled day of costumes, candy, decorated trunks, scavenger hunts, music, and more from 11-1pm! Sign up on Rec Desk to host a Trunk! Once you’ve celebrated with Durham head over to Middlefield’s Trunk or Treat at Peckham Park from 2-4pm! 

 
 
 💊 RX Take Back Day: This important event is happening in conjunction with our day hosted by the Resident Troopers. Safely dispose of unwanted medications at the Community Center during the event. Let’s do our part to keep our community safe and healthy!

Durham's Fall Adopt-a-Road Weekend
Saturday, October 26th & Sunday, October 27th

FOR 40+ YEARS, THE EXCHANGE CLUB HAS HOSTED A ROAD CLEAN-UP EACH FALL & SPRING. WE’D LIKE TO KEEP THIS TRADITION GOING & WE NEED YOUR HELP!

For those of you who would like to clean up your road/neighborhood, you can come pick up trash bags & tags & claim your road(s):
  • Saturday, October 26th at the Allyn Brook Park Pavilion between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

Clean up when you’re able to over the course of the weekend.
Full trash bags will be picked up by Public Works starting on October 28th. For Questions or to claim your road before the 26th, please contact Erica at: edamiatafisher@gmail.com 860.685.8793

Please, nothing opened or expired, thank you!

We are low on the staples:

Low-sodium, protein-based soups
Beans (black, kidney, baked)
Peanut Butter
Tuna
Canned chicken
Canned tomatoes (sauce, diced)
Mac and cheese
Instant potatoes
Dinner side packets
Rice
Ketchup/Mayo/Olive oil
Pancake mix
Jelly/jam
Coffee
Paper towels
Laundry detergent
Cleaning supplies (dish soap, kitchen/bathroom cleaners)

We will also need items for Thanksgiving:

Gravy, canned vegetables (corn, green beans, yams, carrots), cranberry sauce, cream of mushroom soup, crispy dried onions, instant potatoes, corn bread (boxed), stuffing

Please bring Thanksgiving items to the Town Hall, Human Services office (first floor)

All other items can be brought to the Community Center Monday-Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM

We also accept donations of gift cards such as food cards to Stop & Shop and Aldi, gas cards, and Visa’s. Additionally, we accept donations to our Durham Neighbors in Need fund which helps support Durham residents in emergency situations. our holiday programs, and our food pantry. Checks made out to Durham Neighbors in Need can be mailed to: Human Services, P.O. Box 428, Durham, CT 06422 or can be dropped off to the Human Services office.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing the start of work on Route 68 in the area of Sawmill Brook beginning on September 21, 2024. This project consists of the replacement of Bridge No. 02442 on Route 68 in two stages in Durham. The curb-to-curb width of the roadway at the bridge will be widened to 34 ft to accommodate a 12-foot travel lane and 5-foot shoulder in each direction. Route 68 will be reconstructed to improve a sag curve and allow for stopping sight distance to meet current standards.

CTDOT Project No. 0037-0103 was awarded to New England Road, Inc. at a cost of $1,861,208.00 on August 22, 2024, and is scheduled to be completed on September 19, 2025.  The project is being administered by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, Office of Construction, District 1 in Rocky Hill.
 
LANE CLOSURE INFO

Beginning on September 21, 2024, with anticipated completion of September 19, 2025, motorists can expect temporary traffic control utilizing one-way alternating traffic on Route 68 between Pent Road and Ozick Drive until the signalized one-way alternating traffic is implemented for the duration of the project.
